What is Lymphatic Drainage Therapy?
Lymphatic Drainage Therapy is a relaxing, light-touch technique that employs gentle, rhythmic movements of the hands to aid the body’s ability to drain excess fluids (edema), detoxify & regenerate tissue, and maintain a healthy immune system.
How it works
An Lymphatic Drainage Therapy treatment stimulates your body to take up more interstitial fluid into the lymph vessels and then process it through the nodes. The waste that is captured in the lymph nodes is then returned to the blood and filtered out by the liver and kidneys. This waste is then eliminated from the body.
What it can help
It can be helpful for postoperative healing, to reduce pain, bruising and swelling. Treatments can be helpful for symptom management for those in chronic pain, including those with Lyme Disease, Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. The treatment increases the parasympathetic tone of the nervous system, increasing feelings of well-being and relaxation. This parasympathetic state amplifies the body’s natural healing processes.
